This is required for privacy, security, and cost control after private keys were misused outside the calculator. You must create your own key, add funds or credits, and enter it in the setup portal shown in the tutorial. If the key has no credits, the calculator may show a no credits remaining error. Hotspot credentials and the API key are separate setup steps, and both must be entered correctly.

You must have Wenjoop 1.2V 1100 mAh NiMH rechargeable AAA batteries, a compatible AAA rechargeable battery charger, your own funded API key, and a stable WiFi connection before setup. The exact batteries and charger will be linked in the tutorial description. Do not start setup with disposable 1.5V batteries, mixed batteries, partly charged batteries, or batteries that have not been charged together as one set. An iPhone personal hotspot is strongly recommended because Android hotspots can be less reliable, and many school or public networks require a browser sign in page that the calculator cannot access. The setup tutorial is sent by email, so enter a real email address at checkout and check your inbox, spam folder, and messages from Nohli. The tutorial covers batteries, the required charger, API key setup, hotspot name and password, and correct setup. No batteries included.

Batteries are not included, and a compatible AAA rechargeable battery charger is required. The 5MP Camera Calculator lasts around one and a half hours when using Wenjoop 1.2V 1100 mAh NiMH rechargeable AAA batteries. Battery life may vary with other brands. Always charge all batteries together as one set, and never mix freshly charged cells with partly drained ones. Do not use 1.5V AAA batteries. Remove one battery when the calculator is not being used to fully shut off the power. Leaving batteries installed overnight or for an extended period may cause an electrical brownout, drain batteries faster, or affect future battery performance. Damage caused by improper batteries, improper charging, or missing the required charger may affect return or repair eligibility.

Rechargeable AAA NiMH cells are used together as a pack, so the whole device is limited by the weakest single battery. If one cell drains first, the stronger cells can push it into reverse charge, which damages that weak cell even more. That can make one set last around an hour and a half one day and only minutes another day. Use a compatible AAA rechargeable battery charger, charge every battery together as a set, never top up only one cell, and replace the full pack if one cell has become weak. A simple battery voltage meter can help; a full rechargeable AAA cell should usually read around 1.2V or higher.

Performance depends on the problem type, lighting, camera positioning, image clarity, WiFi stability, and remote AI processing. Accuracy typically ranges from about 70% to 90%. Clear and complete photos taken in good lighting provide the best results.

Make sure the entire problem is visible, use bright and even lighting, hold the calculator steady, and allow the autofocus to capture the text clearly. Avoid shadows, glare, blurry images, and cropped questions. Try taking the picture again before contacting support.

The AI may understand and respond to questions in multiple languages, but performance may vary. The calculators have primarily been tested with questions written in English, so accuracy in other languages is not guaranteed.
