The 5MP Camera Calculator captures problems using a five megapixel OV5640 autofocus camera and generates responses through remote AI processing over WiFi.

The ESP32 S3 captures the image, compresses it into a JPEG, converts it to base64, and sends it through GPT-5.4 for processing. Accuracy typically ranges around 70%–90% depending on problem type, lighting conditions, and image quality.

Tested across Algebra 1 & 2, Precalculus, Calculus 1–3, Statistics, Physics 1 & 2, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Economics, Circuit Analysis, Statics & Dynamics, Materials Science, and SAT Math.

After purchasing you will receive a setup tutorial through a QR code inside your package. Please watch the tutorial carefully before using the device. The calculator comes pre-configured and works out of the box. Most users connect through their phone hotspot since many school WiFi networks require a browser sign in page that the calculator cannot access.

Battery life is approximately 2 hours when using 1.2V AAA 1100 mAh high capacity NiMH rechargeable batteries. The recommended batteries are linked in the YouTube tutorial description you receive after purchasing. Using different batteries may result in different battery life and using 1.5V AAA batteries is not advised. All units are used calculators that are fully tested before shipping.
